What is Values-Based Planning in the Wedding Industry?

Do you ever look at a wedding on a blog or social media and think,

“I’ve seen this before”

OR are you ever a guest at a wedding and predict the flow of events, words in the toasts, songs played??

There’s nothing wrong with predictability…

...IF those moments are true for the couple.

Hear us  out.

When it comes to weddings, there are many couples who don’t know 1. What to expect when planning their day and working with vendors and 2. What is possible for them.

If they have attended a wedding, that experience becomes their standard for what a wedding is like...unless we provide guidance and education.

Guidance through the journey of planning an intentional, story-based wedding. Education on creating a seamless, meaningful event.

The only thing that must happen at a wedding is two people willingly exchanging vows.

Everything else builds on that sacred commitment. So what building blocks do you use?

That’s where their values come in.

The most memorable wedding days we’ve (and we’re guessing you, as well) experienced are the ones in which the  couple  built their wedding day based on what was  important to them.

As planners, our role involves getting to those important things - the couple’s values.

So, how do we help couples identify their values? We do this a few ways, but conversation and connection being our top resources. We discover more about their values and story through listening,  a worksheet we specifically crafted for identifying values, and our experiences with them (we love coffee and dinner dates).

These values serve as our north star, the standard through which every decision, every detail, every moment is held.

For example, if community and immersive experience is important to the couple then they may consider a destination wedding in an important location where their closest friends can spend quality time together and hire local musicians and serve local foods and drink.

We no longer want to see predictable weddings that overshadow the vibrancy of couples: we’re innovating ways of curating values-based wedding days.

We’re creating a new brand of wedding planning - values-based wedding planning.

So, what is a values-based wedding planner?

We are partners with you to orient your elopement, wedding or event toward your personal values. Your essence informs each decision made, every vendor hired, and casts the framework for your wedding. By tuning into your values, we cultivate an experience that feels easy, joyful and true to you.
