European-Inspired, Intimate Wedding at Family Cabin in Utah Mountains | Caitlin + Chase

Caitlin and Chase’s all-in love has traveled far from home and back again - they recently moved home to Utah after a couple years living in the Netherlands!

Their sincere tenderness toward each other, their loved ones, and the global community is a rare one. We brought this love into their day in tender, unassuming details.

We liked calling their day a “European Picnic in the Mountains” because with their recent move came details that had a certain European charm. Take their attire, made in Paris. Or the tiny plates, the texture of Lisbon. Or the menu, overflowing with Mediterranean-inspired courses. Caitlin and Chase have loved picnics well before their time abroad, so it was only fitting for them to marry in nature with blankets strewn around guests and veggie-forward foods abundant.

To celebrate their commitment to each other, they gathered their family members on a piece of family land. Two hours from Salt Lake City, a forest service road takes you to the cabin Chase’s father built 30 years ago. Caitlin and Chase prepared walking paths and spaces for celebratory moments. Their own sweat and determination went into creating space for their wedding and for revisiting years to come.

In this unique (and remote) place, we gathered in view of the mountains and in ear-shot of a babbling brook for their marriage ceremony. White bentwood chairs awaited the guests while Caitlin and Chase stood amongst flowers with hues noting the upcoming change of season.

A friend shared a reading. One that encapsulated enduring love throughout humanity. The couple stroked a match to light their own and a third candle as a loving invitation to the the missing-yet very near-presence of Caitlin’s late grandmother.

To celebrate. guests were guided along a path to cocktail hour tucked within the woods. Music, exquisite cheese platters, and sparkling wine greeted guests.

For dinner, the couple invited their guests to the deck - still in view of the Uinta Mountains. The family style meal was served along an elevated picnic setting: blue tones of French linens, Parisian silverware, and centerpieces overflowing with local tumbleweed and outpouring grapes and figs. It felt like a resonant melding of all the places they’ve been together.

Another sweet nod to Caitlin’s late grandmother was the chef serving her Nana’s cherished creme brûlée recipe.

Games, dancing, and s’mores were enjoyed and paired with custom cocktails the father of the bride crafted for the couple.
