What's Inside A Professional Planner's Wedding Day Emergency Kit
The Wildly Collective Emergency Kit has been on a journey. Nay, many journeys over the years.
We provided personal care baskets to our couples when we first started out and then moved to a fully-loaded rolling (makeup) suitcase. Now we fill a large backpack with what we may need to serve our clients and vendor team on a wedding or elopement day.
What’s interesting is that we have truly used most items in our emergency kit. Things we hoped we’d never ever need to use. We have.
If you’ve ever wondered “what should be in a wedding or elopement day emergency kit” then this blog is for you.
The most frequently used items at our weddings and elopements:
Hand held steamer (90% of the time, this bad boy is used)
Lighters
Hand sanitizer
Double sided fashion tape
Nipple stickers
Deodorant
Tissues
Extension cord
Safety pins
Bobby pins
Tide-to-go
Double sided tape
Command Strips
Super glue
Button hook
Hairspray
Tampons
Advil
Various skin toned Band-Aids
Floral pins
Washi tape
Pens
Zip ties
Batteries
How do we keep all of these items organized?
Currently we use the Nordace Sienna backpack to place all non-personal items. We use a separate cloth sack that contains 5 distinct, smaller pouches labeled: body, hair, mouth, attire, and misc. Emergency items that are used most frequently are personal use (to adjust one’s attire or personal hygiene), which is why we make sure they are easily accessible. Smaller pouches that are labeled make it easier to quickly grab anything the couple, wedding party member or guest may need!
Transitioning to the backpack from the large rolling case has been great us. Although, it wasn’t by choice - our storage space was flooded and ruined the case! The backpack is more accessible for our travel and forces us to pair back on items, especially for an elopement.

Last, but not least, don’t forget the styling kit.
Our styling kit remains separate and has everything we need to style flat lays (short of the invitation suite and personal details, of course). In this kit we keep an array of neutral toned textured paper, various colors of silk ribbon, small clothes pins, square table number / escort card holders, a wooden hanger, crystals, stones, vintage scissors, and vintage stamps of all colors and themes.
We use our emergency kit at every event and having it accessible at a moment’s notice always provides us and our couples an extra sense of peace. We are constantly adding new items to our kit as we experience more and more wedding days and therefore, unexpected occurrences!
